Database Instance Daily Backup
Backing up database instances daily is a best practice to reduce the impact of data loss due to failure or attack. This bot does so by creating a manual snapshot. Manual snapshots, as opposed to automatic snapshots, are retained when a database instance is deleted. When recoverying a database instance, you can only use a manual snapshot to return to a point in time.
Recommended Action
This bot can be customized to perform backups only on certain days of the week, e.g., after Monday through Friday.
In addition, this bot could be paired with another bot that manages the back-ups created. For example, the ‘Backup Cleanup’ bot could delete bot created backups that are 30/60/90 days old.
